The Island of Anna Maria is divided into three cities: Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach.
Void of high rise building, these three charming cities offer an Old World Florida feel from quaint cottages, single family houses, and villas or townhomes to luxury and three story condominiums. Housing options range from historical homes to new construction.
With the island stretching over seven miles along the Gulf Coast, there's plenty of waterfront options on both the Gulf of Mexico and the bays facing Tampa Bay, Terra Ceia Bay, Palma Sola Bay, and Sarasota Bay.
South of Anna Maria Island are other Barrier Islands including Longboat Key, Lido Key, Bird Key, Siesta Key, and Casey Key.
A draw bridge connects Anna Maria Island to Longboat Key. From Longboat Key another bridge connects to Lido Key and then to Bird Key. And although one can enjoy sights of Siesta Key from there, travel must be made back into Sarasota to find access to Siesta Key and Casey Key.
It's worth the drive, though, to find world famous beaches, shopping, dining, nightlife- including St Armands Circle, and Luxury houses for sale.
Just across the bays from the islands are the Main lands of Sarasota, Bradenton, Cortez and Palmetto, Snead Island and Terra Ceia in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
Running along the coast, these coastal communities offer waterfront homes or houses that are a short drive to the water.
With a multitude of marinas and golfing options and boasting quick access to either west to the islands or east to I75 and beyond, this area is often a favorite pick for home buyers.
